This masterplan has looked at the opportunities to reimagine Newport River Medina to create a new exciting centre for residential, commercial and industrial facilities to create rejuvenation for Newport on the Isle of Wight.
Looking at the existing light industrial area on the River Medina to create a new cultural centre by reimaging this prime water front location with the creation of a masterplan for new buildings and landscape.
This formed part of larger conversations with Isle of wight Council on how the island could benefit from regeneration. This masterplan took influence from the existing functions of the area including the necessary light industrial and commercial buildings, manufacturing facilities for the marine industry as well as the need for more affordable housing.
The solution imagined new housing, light industrial and commercial units with greater connection to the River Medina with landscaping and new cycling and pedestrian networks to connect to open spaces beyond Newport.
