Hampshire Housing Development

Brief

Fingerprintstudios Architects were appointed by the client to review proposals for an unsuccessful planning application submitted by an alternative developer. Working with the client several proposals were prepared for discussion with Portsmouth City Council for a pre-application in response to the previous refusal notice.

Achievement

The development included for both market and social housing provisions which would create 12 units of 1,2- and 3-bedroom units with associated shared spaces and car parking.

As part of the proposals highways consultants and environmental consultants were appointed to assist in the discussions with the Local Authority.

The designs looked at alternative proposals in both its scale and massing including a palette of materials that reflected the local environment.

Both designs included for the inclusion of a local bat community with integrated bat brick boxes and integrated bat friendly habitat roof tiles. All designed and located away from artificial light sources with a bat friendly planting scheme to increase the biodiversity of the site and the foraging potential.
