Contemporary New Build Low Energy Town Houses. – Godalming Surrey

Designing a contemporary new build low energy town house.

Fingerprintstudios are working on design plans for new build town housing in Godalming. These contemporary town houses have been designed for a client on a hill slope site in Godalming. These designs have been prepared for a challening toen centre site on a steep sloping site.

Low energy homes designed for the modern family.

These will be low energy homes designed to create new family homes to add to the wealth and quality of housing in the area. The design has been carefully considered so the pitched roof is orientated south. This roof will then accommodate both solar Photo Voltaic’s (PV) for electricity generation and Solar Hot Water for internal hot water heating. The use of air tightness membranes, Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS) will assist in providing a thermally efficient roof, walls and floors to provide a very efficient shell. It is the clients goal to provide Low energy homes that can be marketed for the modern family. In all the architecture design provides a responsive design that works with providing a low energy home that works within the landscape.

Sloping Site and Town House Design.

The extremely sloping site is a major constraint and the design for the Contemporary New Build Low Energy Town Houses. – Godalming Surrey has responded by creating two town houses with a shared external staircase. The homes main entrance is off the ground floor via the front car park. An internal staircase takes you to the first floor with living and kitchen accommodation that has direct access to the rear garden. The internal floor levels work with the existing landscape to provide a holistic design approach. The third floor provides bedroom accommodation with en-suites and family bathrooms. The large expanse of glass to the main elevations allow for views over the historic Godalming town centre and beyond.

THE EYE – Enterprise Youth Education Community Centre.

Fingerprintstudios Architects are working on the delivery of a new youth and community centre: THE EYE – Enterprise Youth Education Community Centre

Fingerprintstudios Architects are proud to be working on the contemporary design of a new youth and community centre in the heart of Billingshurst. This new youth and community centre will provide a new facility for young people to have some where to go and something to do.

THE EYE – Enterprise Youth Education Community Centre A new youth and community centre.

This Education Youth Enterprise Community Centre will provide an important asset to the local community providing a much needed facility to support the youth and future generations. This will provide the youth with a base to learn new skills and become valuable assets for the local area.

A challenging site for a planning application.

The site is a green built of land shoe horned into a built up area making vehicular access challenging. The site is no doubt challenging for any planning application. The site is land locked with no vehicular access, its bound on one side by a direct London railway line, two public right of way footpaths, a school MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) and playing fields, Billingshurst Bowling Club and a residential area. In all this will prove to have many hurdles and challenges for us during our efforts to obtain planning permission for this Education Youth Enterprise Community Centre.

Vernacular design with a modern twist.

This initial massing model gives a flavour of our current thoughts for the Education Youth Enterprise Community Centre. Taking a pinch of the local vernacular design and mixing it with a contemporary and modern twist will provide an interesting and dynamic youth centre for the community. The pitched roof and timber cladding are a direct reference to the barns found within the local area of West Sussex. This modern twist is used to ensure that the local youth are attracted to this new facility.

Community Centre - Architecture Feasibility Study

THE EYE – Community Centre Feasibility Study

THE EYE – Community Centre Feasibility Study.

Feasibility Study for a new community centre.

Community Centre – Architecture Feasibility Study

Community Centre – Architecture Feasibility Study for a new YOUTH CENTRE – Fingerprintstudios have delivered a feasibility proposal for a new educational youth enterprise centre (THE EYE). This new community centre feasibility study has assisted the client in understanding the design proposal ahead of a planning application. Architectural feasibility studies look at the early stages of the design and review numerous opportunities and constraints and begin to review the overall impression for the project. These early stages set the foundations for your project and are one of the most important stages of a construction project.

Vernacular Design with a modern twist.

The proposals have been well received by the project champions and the stakeholders. A vernacular form has been taken to merge with the local building context. A contemporary removal of elements creates the entrance and rear courtyard. The entrance and courtyard zones also help to create private spaces with the context of an open plan environment. These removals/ cuts from the main form with the use of gold cladding against the black timber creates a striking and evident entrance to the building.

Use of 3D Models in Architectural Design.

The use of 3D models and photo realistic renders helps to show the concept design for this new youth and community centre. The design can be easily understood by the client and provides a useful tool to sell the big concept idea. As can be seen from the massing models through to the exterior and interior photo realistic renders the design concept is evident. We can assist you as a client in providing concept designs for your interior or architectural project.

From Concept to Completion.

We can take your interior or architecture construction scheme from concept to completion. We can assist at any stage in helping your project become a reality.

Contemporary house extension

Contemporary 1970’s House Extension

House Extension to a 1970’s Dwelling.

Contemporary 1970’s House Extension to an existing 1070’s dwelling.

House extension feasibility study.

Fingerprintstudios have been commissioned to provide a feasibility to an existing 1970’s dwelling in Portsmouth Hampshire. Two architectural feasibility studies have been produced to review the ideal arrangement for a growing family. The clients are looking for a contemporary house extension to provide a striking piece of architecture to the bland 1970’s existing building. The feasibility looks at maximising the buildings footprint in a challenging terrace situation. This house extension feasibility provides the client with two options as well as much needed professional Architects advice including planning, land and contract law, explores budget constraints and reviews the house in a holistic manner. Fingerprintstudios Architects can provide professional Architects and construction advice.

Rights to light and privacy.

As the property is an terrace dwelling consideration to rights to light and privacy must be given to ensure that no detriment to the neighbouring properties occurs. A low level single storey with a gull wing roof will maximise the internal ceiling height and building volume whilst ultimately keeping a low key building. New roof lights and a metal standing seam roof will provide the elements of  delight for this piece of architecture.

Single Storey House extension.

This single storey house extension will provide much needed additional living accommodation for a growing family. It will allow for a major internal refurbishment and fit out. This house extension will allow existing living and kitchen areas to be reconfigured to provide a layout more suited to modern standards of living as well as catering for a growing family. It is important to the client to ensure that the garden is an extension of the living and kitchen areas as well as ensuring that the children can be watched at all times from the ground floor area. This house extension in Portsmouth will provide much needed single storey living accommodation.

The client wishes to have a modern 21st century energy efficient extension that allows for all modern comforts whilst enhancing and adding to the character of the existing building. We are using traditional flintwork and redbrick wall construction with a working oak frame to create a contemporary addition to this historic dwelling.

Oak frame construction and flint work construction.

We are proud to bring you a taster of the proposal for the dwelling which uses a traditional oak frame, flint stone work and modern construction methods to create a striking piece of architecture. The oak frame construction uses traditional construction and joinery methods but used in a modern way by creating a two storey double height living space. A feature brickwork chimney adds to the striking piece of architecture. The flint work will merge into the existing 18th century dwelling providing an addition to the wealth of character that the building all ready has.

Modern technology and reduced heating bills.

The new extension will use traditional construction methods but using new modern methods to improve the air tightness and insulation values providing a lovely habitable place to live without the addition of high energy bill prices found in historic buildings. This extension will have all the character without the expense of heating an old property. The use of PIR insulation, air tightness membranes, internal wet plaster, solar heat gains and thermal mass will all assist in providing a lovely loving space for this 18th Century Dwelling Extension Feasibility.

New contemporary living and kitchen space.

A new contemporary kitchen, living and dining space on the ground floor and a new master bedroom with living area and en-suite bathroom with all the modern features, will provide a welcomed house extension.
