Newly Qualified Architect? Fancy joining us?
We’re looking for an Architect with around 3–5 years’ post-Part III experience.
Not because we need another bum on a seat.
Because we’re busy. Because we’re growing. And because we think architecture is better when clever, curious people work together.
At Fingerprintstudios, no two days are the same.
One week you could be working on a contemporary home overlooking the Solent. The next, helping breathe new life into a listed building, developing a commercial scheme or solving the kind of technical detail that keeps architects awake at 2am (you know the ones).
We’re a small, friendly RIBA Chartered Practice based in a beautifully restored Grade II listed building in Fareham. We like good design, practical solutions, interesting conversations and plenty of coffee. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves.
If you’re looking for a huge corporate practice where you’ll spend six months moving toilet doors by 100mm, we’re probably not for you.
If you enjoy variety, responsibility and being trusted to get on with things, keep reading.
The sort of person we’re hoping to meet
You’re ARB registered.
You’ve got around 3–5 years’ experience working in UK practice.
You enjoy the whole architectural journey — from the first sketch to seeing people move into the finished building.
You can produce a solid technical package, but you also enjoy the creative side of architecture.
You’re comfortable talking to clients, consultants and contractors without disappearing behind your laptop.
Most importantly, you’re curious, approachable and genuinely enjoy solving problems.
You’ll probably be doing things like…
- Developing projects from concept through to completion.
- Preparing planning applications and technical drawing packages.
- Working across residential, commercial and heritage projects.
- Meeting clients and helping turn ideas into buildings.
- Visiting sites, solving problems and working with contractors.
- Coordinating consultants and keeping projects moving.
- Bringing your own ideas to the table.
The software bit
We primarily use AutoCAD so experience is a bonus.
Knowledge of ArchiCAD, SketchUp, BSR and Adobe Creative Suite would also be useful.
A quick note about how we work
This isn’t a salaried position.
We’re looking for someone to work with us on a self-employed basis. For the right person, this offers flexibility, autonomy and the opportunity to become an important part of our growing studio.
We’ll agree a competitive day rate or fee based on your experience, and we’ll provide a steady pipeline of varied and interesting work.
Why work with us?
Because you’ll get involved.
Because you’ll have a voice.
Because you’ll work on genuinely varied projects rather than repeating the same scheme over and over again.
Because you’ll be trusted.
Because we’re building a practice we’d want to work in ourselves.
If that sounds like your sort of place, we’d love to hear from you.
Send us your CV, a portfolio (PDF please) and a few words about yourself to info@fingerprintstudios.co.uk
We’re much more interested in the person behind the drawings than a perfectly polished covering letter.
