Renewing timber windows for a Country Home in Twyford Winchester.

Fingerprintstudios Architects have been appointed to help a client in renewing timber windows for a Country Home in Twyford Winchester. A bespoke timber window joinery package renews this lovely home. The existing home was in need to major window repairs due to water ingress and timber rot. A number of the existing windows are single glazed windows and cause a number of internal condensation issues. Although the property is not subject to any conservation or heritage constraints the client was keen to keep the slim profiles found with single glazing.

Replacement timber windows bespoke joinery drawings.

The bespoke joinery drawings prepared by Fingerprintstudios Architects will now be issued to joinery companies to obtain quotations. These drawings will ensure that the client will get best value from the tender process and will allow the bespoke joinery firms from being able to construct robust timber windows in keeping with the clients aspirations.

Heritage slim frame timber windows.

The timber profiles are in keeping with the existing timber profiles, with small adaptations to improve airtightness by including draught seals and improving water tightness. The new double glass units have small spaces in silver to maintain a slime line glass feel and reduce the overall thickness of the timber frame. These elements will generally improve the building but maintaining the heritage of the building.

Painted Sapele timber windows.

Sapele timber was specified as this is a robust hardwood, which is ideal for exterior use for windows and doors. The Sapele hardwood is great for joinery packages as its easy to work with and maintains it shape. The fine grain of sapele timber makes it ideal for painting. The client was keen to have a contrasting colour against the existing brickwork and a soft heritage cream was chosen.
